Butter Cloth Shirts - Shark Tank Product
Dahn Tran has the right idea - comfort should not be sacrificed for style. He turned his conviction into a company, Butter Cloth, that makes shirts advertised to be the world's most comfortable shirts. Tran appeared on Shark Tank on October 28, 2018, along with his business partners Gary Falkenberg and Metta World Peace, seeking an investment of $250K in exchange for 10% of Butter Cloth.

Tran walked away from the tank...okay, he actually joyfully skipped out out the tank... with a deal from Robert Herjavec for $250K in exchange for 25% of the company.
Kevin O'Leary was the first shark to go out, asserting that the customer acquisition cost of $40 was too high. Mark Cuban was the next to go out, followed by Lori Greiner. Lori pointed out that she was already involved in the fashion business promoting her own clothing line. Guest Shark Charles Barkley declined to make an offer, noting that the fashion business was cut throat. All of the sharks were impressed by the quality of the product, but most were deterred by the competitiveness of the market.
Tran was born in Vietnam and immigrated to California with his family in 1994. He studied design and went on to land several jobs in fashion design, most recently as Head Designer for Affliction Clothing.
Tran always loathed wearing dress shirts because he found them to be too scratchy, too stiff and too restrictive. He designed his own shirt and started selling them on Facebook and on his web site in 2017. Metta World Peace became an equity partner in Butter Cloth later that year.
The Butter Cloth shirt he designed is made of a blend of 100% long fiber cotton and uses a special manufacturing process that makes the shirts stretchable and breathable. The shirts are available with both short or long sleeves and a variety of colors and patterns. On his web site, Tran is quoted as saying that the shirt "looks like a Friday night, but feels like a Sunday morning."
This sounds wonderful to me...I hope he goes on to make women's shirts! The shirts are are not cheap, ranging in price from $108 to $118! Ouch! But if they are durable and last and if they are as comfortable as they sound, it might be worth the investment. Butter Cloth shirts are being sold on buttercloth.com with free shipping.
