Americans use an incredible number of straws every day - 5 million of them! Final Straw's mission is to reduce plastic straw use by providing a convenient, collapsible, reusable alternative. They want to persuade restaurants to stop serving straws. That's some ambitious mission!
Emma Cohen and Miles Pepper introduced Final Straw to the Shark Tank on Episode 1 of Season 10, which aired on October 7, 2018. The company had already raised a whopping $1.8 on Kickstarter, but the product has not yet been delivered. Delivery is expected next month.
The Sharks failed to invest in the company, although Mark Cuban did offer $675K for 25% of the company. Emma countered at 12.5%, but Mark declined the couteroffer. While he recognized the demand for the product, he questioned whether the company could execute.
The straw folds up to the size of a car key and fits into a case which can attach to your key chain. The body of the straw is stainless steel and the tubing is medical-grade TPE. The tip is made of food grade silicone. The straw can be used with both hot and cold beverages.
The Final Straw product is patent pending, but there are similar products available on Amazon:
The company is accepting pre-orders and plans to begin delivery in November of 2018.
